We can't control ourselves!

So my babies turn 4 today..... yes 4! How is that possible? I told them they need to stop growing and their response "We can't control ourselves, we just grow!"

Here are some other things they have decided now that they are 4:
  • I am now Mom, no longer Mommy (not a fan of this decision)
  • They will no longer be scared of ants. "4 year olds aren't scared of ants!"
  • They can now swim in DEEP water
  • They need to sit in regular chairs, not their booster seat.
  • They don't need to wear seatbelts- sorry Charlie but that is the LAW!
  • And I'm sure I will hear about many more things "Now that we are 4"
They woke up this morning, stood very tall, convinced they had grown overnight since today they are 4! :)

I feel very emotional about this age, not sure why. I guess the realization that they really aren't babies. Though I do tell them everyday you will always be my baby. I think they have given up arguing this point. As one of my favorite children's author wrote in one of his books "I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, forever my baby you'll be."

To celebrate the big 4 we had a party at a fun pool near our house! The boy's loved every minute of it!

They had a great day celebrating with family and friends!!

Before I leave, a stroll down memory lane.....

Rocco and Taegan- I am truly blessed to be your mommy! You are my life, my world. I love your energy, curiosity, and imagination. The bond the two of you share is something I can never understand. But I can't tell you how much my heart overflows to see the love you have for each other. I smile knowing that you are each other's biggest fans. I love you both so very much!

Honey Baby I Love you

I have a feeling this song might be a part of the boy's end of year program, seeing as how I've  heard it a couple times ;) I can't believe end of year stuff is here! In only a few short weeks we will be in summer mode!!! Well not quite, for the first 3 weeks of summer I will be part of a summer program for gifted students.... I'm pretty excited!

But enough about me, I know the real reason you come here is to hear about my perfect, well behaved, totally calm children. So what have they been up to lately?
  • waking up WAY to early.... everyday
  • wrestling (I swear all the time)
  • asking a million questions
  • either pretending to be a superhero or a bad guy.... they take turns
  • talking a mile a minute... usually at the same time
  • living in their twin world, I seriously don't know what they would do if they didn't have each other..
Since it has been forever and a day since my last post.... here are some highlights :)

Easter..... the boys had 4 egg hunts. They had one at school, one at home, one at Grandma's, and then my friend Jenna hosted a hunt.
Coloring eggs with their fav person :)

Easter baskets!

Ready for another round at Grandma's!

Nothing like an egg on the spoon race!

Cracking confetti eggs

Worn out!

Our first Chuck E Cheese visit :) A boy from their class invited them to his birthday party, they are still talking about it.

Mother's Day..... no pictures from the day. It started of nice.... cards and a gift delivered by 3 handsome guys. But the day quickly turned south when I got vomited on, it was awesome.

We attended a Quincenera... the boys had a blast. They love to dance. Rocco totally gets into it! He wants you to hold his hands, and he closes his eyes, and then just dances away. So cute! But a shocker here... their dancing can quickly turn into wrestling. Well actually it is more like 3 year old moshing.

And just some randoms....
Earning their keep

Even a superhero has to take a break to eat dinner!

Or as the boys would say they need more energy (Which just for the record I have never seen them lacking in energy!)

And just to brag... we went to the store to get stuff for dinner, I asked the boys what they wanted.... their response: Kale chips, chicken, and cauliflower.... love it!

This was taken in April.... a little taste of some of the dance moves

In their own little world.... in a box, or on a boat- It's just a matter of perspective

Well until next time.... no promises on when that will be :)

February

Time is flying! I can't believe we are half way into March! So much to catch up on.

Here is a quick run down of February!

The boys were super excited about Valentine's Day this year, probably because I get so excited. For me Valentine's Day is all about the kids. Being a teacher, there is nothing like Valentine's Day! At school the students LOVE passing out their Valentines, and they love reading the cards they received even more! It is just a fun day that makes my heart smile :)

The Valentines that Rocco and Taegan passed out to their friends at school.

Photo Dump.....
We have been very into superheros lately. This is Taegan with his shield!

The boys had some money left from Christmas and one day as we ran errands they could choose how they wanted to spend their money. Rocco picked this ginormous balloon!

Daddy you are so funny trying to sleep in!

Getting a much needed haircut. We take up a whole corner :)

Daddy you are so funny thinking you can watch something in peace! :)

Scored some sweet treats from the ice cream truck!

Taegan and Rocco got some new soccer shoes. Normally we buy the same shoes but these were the only two pairs left. Of course there was a fight and they both wanted to wear the black pair.... so the solution, one of each!
I turned 30 in February! Not sure how that happened, I swear I was just 25! Any-who on my actual birthday (a Tuesday) the boys and I went to watch Ray play soccer and then went out to dinner as a family. The following weekend Ray's family came into to town and Ray and I enjoyed a little getaway! We relaxed, I got a massage, had a very nice dinner, and best of all slept in :)
Love him :)

Ray's parents enjoying time with the boys.
And here we are in March! I have been documenting Mommy Bootcamp on Facebook, but there will be a blog posting coming with more details plus what we have been doing with our spring break!

Merry (very late) Christmas

(I have had trouble uploading pics to the blog, which is why this is so late.)

Christmas this year was amazing! Experiencing the excitement through the eye's of Rocco and Taegan is something that is hard to describe. Also adding to the excitement was a white Christmas!

We started Christmas with a visit to my mom's on Christmas Eve. We had some yummy tamales, watched a movie, and opened our stockings.

Christmas Eve- ready to head to grandma's house!

Stockings!

Christmas morning was the best! The boys were very spoiled and loved everything. They were a little disappointed when Ray or I would open a present. They would say "That's not a toy!" They just don't understand that mommy gets just as excited over new shoes and purses as they do about toys :)

Taegan Christmas morning

Rocco Christmas morning

Their action figures were a hit!

Cooking mommy a yummy meal :)
A white Christmas!

Yay for snow!

It looks like one is screaming, but I promise they were super excited!

Finally getting to ride their new bikes the day after Christmas! While they were excited for the snow, it is no fun to get a new bike and being told you can't ride it.
