1st and 2nd Haircut

So we finally got their hair cut... it was getting a little out of control but I have been hesitant to do it because I love their curls and I know that once their hair is cut they will look like big boys... I just didn't know if I was ready. Well Ray made the decision for me.... here is a little story for your reading pleasure :)

So I get home from work on Thursday and the first thing I notice is Taegan's hair.... I ask Ray if he cut their hair... thinking he would never do such a thing. At first he straight up lies and tells me no, but it is pretty obvious. He says I didn't cut it I just "trimmed" the front to get it out of their eyes. Some people might think I was/am being a little dramatic but I was NOT happy.I mean these boys are my world and I've been involved in every aspect of their care since day one. And as a mother you naturally take on the role as the main caregiver and make all those decisions on a daily basis about their care. Yet you can just cut their hair without even mentioning it to me... Who does that? Well apparently my husband does and he thought I wouldn't notice. And for the record it was not a trim. After a few hours, and getting all my comments off my chest, and an apology we made peace. But after Ray's home "trim" job the boys were pretty much rockin a mullet so we had to take them in for a real haircut.

The real haircut was fun. Taegan was very serious and still the whole time and Rocco was serious but moved a lot more. Rocco's hair is a little shorter than Taegan's... but they still have some curl!! They do look like big boys now... it will take some getting use to.
So without further ado here are some picture from the event!

Working Hard for the Money....

To pay for daycare :) LOL! Not kidding though it is expensive for 2 kiddos to be in daycare! So the past month has been absolutely crazy! Adjusting to working with kids has been quite the experience for our little family of 4 :)

The little guys have done really well. The hardest part has been the exposure to all the new germs. But aside from that they are happy little campers. They take their naps on little cots and eat their lunch at a little table with chairs... it's all so stinkin cute :) They do fun art projects and have made little friends and love their teacher. They are definitely happy to see Ray or me at the end of the day though. They both run up and give hugs, get their bag, say bye bye, and wait at the door.

For me the biggest adjustment is just finding the time for everything. I am so happy to be back in the classroom! Regardless of the craziness I know that this was the right decision for me. I love my boys more than life but I wasn't cut out to be a stay at home mom.... seriously kuddos to the moms that stay at home! I am always anxious to see them at the end of the day but every morning I'm excited to get to work. I am extremely grateful for the time I had at home with them and feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to do that. This has all been a big adjustment for Ray as well. When I was home he really didn't have to worry about anything as far as they boys went. But now he takes them to daycare in the morning so he is getting them up and dressed and out the door. On his off days he picks them up early and handles their dinner and bath time. With his school and work he is extremely busy too!

Here are a few fun videos that were shot a couple of weeks ago... enjoy :)

No Sir!

I feel like all I say these days is “NO SIR!” Rocco and Taegan seem to be at the stage where they are testing the boundaries…. Needless to say this keeps me very busy. My mom put it perfectly the other day… it’s like herding cats J I’m just glad I can keep my sense of humor about it all and laugh at the end of the day…. and a lot of times in the moment. I’m going to have to work on keeping a straight face during some of their antics. Don’t get me wrong though after about the 20th climb on top of the couch or fire place it seizes to be cute! Here is a story that had me smiling….

I typically bathe them by myself with Ray’s work and school schedule which I don’t mind they enjoy bath time so it’s pretty easy. They aren’t allowed to touch the drain…. And we have been over it enough that they know this. So I have Taegan all soaped up on one side and Rocco looks over his shoulder as he is reaching for the drain, I say “No Sir” and he pulls his hand back. I get back to Taegan and hear the drain go up. I say “No Sir” again and he pulls his hand back and tucks them between his legs. He then turns toward Taegan with this sly grin and they both just crack up and all I can think is Man I am in for it!!

Another fun thing that has been going on is the differences that are finally taking shape. I get asked so many times which one is more dominant, and truthfully there isn’t a more dominant one. They go back and forth. But Taegan is showing to be more affectionate and Rocco a clown. Taegan loves to give kisses and sit on my lap. And if Rocco has an audience you can almost guarantee that he will put on a show.

Okay now for a few pics and videos!

Just a cute video I like

Changing day by day

Watching the boys develop physically has been so much fun but seeing their cognitive development is amazing. Everyday they learn something new and you can see their little minds at work all the time. Here are some of the fun things that have been happening...they tell me when they are "all done." They do this by "dusting" their hands off. They do it at meal time, in the bath tub, when I close something... it is pretty cute! They give kisses and hugs all the time and blow kisses and we just had their first brother kiss. It was the sweetest thing I have ever seen and it is one of those moments when I feel truly blessed to have twins. They can find their tummy and noses. They do warm-up stretches with dad before morning walks. This consist of swinging arms back and forth as dad does it :) They try to jump... when you count to 3 they bend their knees and stand up really fast. They LOVE music. They are constantly dancing and when the music stops they throw their hands up like "what happened" and run over to the cd player until the next song starts. AND I think the funniest one is posing for pictures. As soon as I get the camera out they run to the wall and stand there and when I take the picture they come over to the camera like they are checking it out and I say "1 more" and they run back to wall and stand there. I laugh so hard every time. Though they do "pose" they both rarely look directly at the camera... we have to work on that! These are the things that stand out to me and are moments I have been trying to capture on video but they always get distracted when the video camera comes out :(

Here are some recent pictures:

They love to hang out in their little wagons... They pull and push each other in them and just hang out in them.

yes this is a video of a monitor :) This was during nap time.... not a lot of napping going on but you can't help but be happy when this is what you are hearing over the monitor!

My little guys are ONE!!! Approaching their first birthday I’ve really taken some time to reflect back on this year…. They say nothing can prepare you for motherhood and that couldn’t be truer :) I think back to that indescribable moment when we found out we were having twins… I still get butterflies and goose bumps! Then the day the boys were born and those first days in the hospital, trying to wrap my mind around the fact that I was going to bring home TWO tiny babies that are completely dependent on us. Those first few months are a little of blur… I’m pretty sure I was just in survival mode trying to establish routines and schedules. And I think back to all of our firsts this year… smiles, laughs, crawling, standing, walking, teeth, food… so many fun milestones! As I look back I remember moments thinking “Why me???” as they are refusing to nap, or both crying, refusing to eat, sick, fighting over a toy, going after everything the shouldn’t.. whatever it may be. Or those moments when I think “Does life get any better than this?” As they are chasing each other laughing, running to me for hugs and kisses, cuddling, and playing together nicely :) All in all it has been a hectic, challenging, surreal, memorable, amazing year…. And I wouldn’t change a minute of it!

So for their actually birthday we went to the aquarium and then this weekend we will have a party. They LOVED the aquarium and we are all exhausted at the end of the day! Here are some pics from Rocco and Taegan’s 1st Birthday!!

Settling In!!!

Well we have been in Dallas for a little over a month now! Time sure is flying! We have settled and the boys have adjusted to the new environment. I missed a 10 AND 11 month post... I think I am the worst blogger ever :) So here is a little update on the boys:
  • Rocco has 7 teeth
  • Taegan has 6 teeth (more are coming for both based on drool and chewing on everything
  • Walking~ this has been going on for awhile now... we even takes walks in the morning to burn some energy.
  • "Talking" still the dada papa baba but with more purpose and meaning... they rarely say mama :(
  • Eating all table foods... no more jars for us :)
  • Some tricks they have been doing: waving, clapping, blowing kisses, peek-a-boo
  • Curly hair... since our move and the humidity the boys now have curls instead of straight hair
That's all I can think of I'm sure there is more but trying to go back 2 months is a little hard :)

Since our move we have been keeping busy with classes for the boys. They are in a Gymboree class and they just finished swim lessons. It was more of just a splash and sing class with an occasional dunking not really teaching them to swim. But they loved it... they are definitely water babies. They really enjoy the Gymboree class because they get to run free and climb on things... and not get in trouble :)

Here are a few pics from some of our adventures :) In just a few short weeks Rocco and Taegan will be 1!!!! I can't believe it has been a year... I'm just happy I survived ;)

1st Mother's Day... and some May Fun :)

I had a wonderful 1st Mother's day :) I spent my day relaxing and enjoying the guys of my life! Ray took over all the feedings and cleanings and I just got to have play time all day!! Here is a timeline of the day....

First thing in the morning the boys gave me their Mother's Day card they picked out themselves :)
Next we enjoyed a yummy breakfast of pancakes dipped in blueberry sauce!
After their morning nap we went to the pool... the boys LOVED the kids play area! It is all the fountains that spray and rain water.
Next the boys enjoyed their lunch poolside :)

But wait... what's this... Mom relaxing and smiling :)

Because this is what the boys were doing... so mom was enjoying her beverage poolside :)
Mother's day was really just a calm relaxing family day for us.... and I couldn't have asked for more.
Here are some more pictures of our May so far. Rocco and Taegan (and Mom) have enjoyed having Dad home!!! I got so use to Ray traveling that I am actually having to adjust to having a 2nd set of hands around. I just got into the routine of go, go, go and doing it all that having help is taking some getting use to :)
Alright here are some snapshots of what the crazy kids have been up to :)

Here is Taegan trying to climb the walker! They will push their toys to the gate, couch, entertainment center and use it to climb onto things... they are getting way to clever for my taste!
This is Rocco trying to "walk" to mom. They still prefer to crawl because it is faster but they like to practice walking.
We had a pool party with our friends Dean and Cade.... all 4 boys had the best time! We finally had to drag them out after over an hour... their little feet were all wrinkly :)

Another shot from the pool party... this picture just makes me smile :)

May so far has been a blast... we still have so much packing to do for our move to Dallas. We are really trying to de-clutter and get rid of as much stuff as we can. It is crazy how many things I have felt the need to hang on to through the years??! We leave Arizona on the 28th... that is only 15 days... holy cow! SO MUCH TO DO!!
And in case you haven't seen it we had some family pictures taken on May 6th. Our photographer was AMAZING!! She is a NICU nurse and mommy and just started taking pictures in November... she is a natural! She was so good with the boys and had such creative ideas for the settings of the pictures!
Here is the sneak peek:

9 Months :)

Happy 9 Months to my adorable boys :)
They had their 9 month well check today.... and everything looks great! The Doc was very impressed with their mobility and the boys gave him a special treat :) They like to see who can scream louder... not cry... just scream. They go back and forth and just crack up... and yes maybe it is funny the 1st time but not when you hear it all day :) They were both 29 inches long (75%) and Rocco was 18 lb 9 oz and Taeagn 18 lb 5 oz (both 20%). I will be honest the 20% through me off.. they have always been in the 50% for their weight but the Doc said we need to take into account their level of activity and that genetics play a large roll in this too. And turns out Ray and I were both skinny babies. All in all it was a great visit!!

What they are up to:
  • Turbo charge crawling
  • Standing for long periods of time
  • "Walking" both Rocco and Taegan are taking steps usually about 6 before they fall
  • "Talking" mamam dadad bababa
  • Biting... yes you read that right! We had our first biting incident. they wanted the same toy and Taegan bit Rocco... let the good times begin!
  • Waving~ only Taegan does this though

Another big change for us is our upcoming move back to Dallas! Ray is officially resigned from his job and we couldn't be happier! All the travel that his job entailed was not for us... so now it is time to focus on our family :) We have soooooo much to do and figure out but together we can make anything happen!!! We will miss our AZ "family" but thanks to things like facebook it will be easier to stay in touch :)

And here are some recent pics of the boys....This is what we face every time we change their diaper or get them dressed. They wiggle, turn, anything to get away!

This is Rocco's wrist after the bite. It is hard to see in the picture but you can see the teeth marks.

Notice how one of Rocco's legs is bigger than the other??? That would be because his diaper is in his pj pant! when I got him up in the morning this was the situation we had...not sure how it happened?

Taegan is taking Rocco for a ride during one of their twin playdates :)

Yes Taegan you were caught playing with a girl toy :)

Oh the life of twins!!

Where to start.... we've had a crazy couple of days!! I guess I'll begin with this weekend!

So when I was pregnant I constantly wondered what would happen if both got sick at the same time... well wonder no more because now I know!! I was out of town on Saturday and Ray had the boys. All day they refused the bottle... these boys eat so to refuse is CRAZY!! They went 36 hours without a bottle! So Sunday morning when they woke up (and I was there) I made them a bottle and they sucked it down like no other and then proceeded to projectile vomit the whole bottle. I have never seen them get sick we've had spit up but never anything like this. And they were so lethargic. I think that was the hardest part... just seeing them laying on the floor, they couldn't even sit up :( So all day Sunday they either didn't eat or threw up if they did. Monday morning Rocco kept his bottle down but not Taegan, so we went to the doctor. They said there is a stomach bug going around and just stick with liquids and rest. As the day went on they gradually got better and today (Tuesday) they have kept everything down! They aren't eating as much as they normally do and they are up and moving but definitely not their crazy selves. But needless to say I'm happy the rough part is over. Having two sick babies is the worst. They both wanted to be held and cuddled... thankfully Ray has been here to help!

Now for some fun stuff. Here are some fun pics and vids :)
Taegan found one of their old pacifiers and this is how he was hanging out
Busted out the a pot... they were more interested in chewing on it though :)
The funny thing is I was in the kitchen and Rocco started crying I look up and don't see Taegan anywhere.... well So much for my pillow barricade...Taegan made it over the pillows and into the basket.Apparently I can't leave the laundry basket out either! I was changing Taegan and turn around and Rocco was on top of the basket.

And here is a short video of Rocco. This was shot today so he was a little fussy from being sick... but I think we are on the verge of walking... a little nervous!
